I expected more details, e.g., regarding the vision of the horse, there SHOULD have been a little drawing of the vision fields .. and the explanation of ALL of the used words (and they should be SOMEWHERE in the picture) .. some things were nicely, plain, easy to understand, therefore I still rate 2 stars - but for what-you-get it is a bit too expensive in my opinion.

It's a ok book, but you can find better ones with a similar price.

Nice pictures, but too essential. I have appreciated the useful section on horse teeth, but other important sections are missing: little is said for example about the nervous system and peripheral nerves where nerve blocks are commonly perfomed. Or about the guttural pouch whcih is a typical feature of the horse anatomy.

I was hoping for a little more detail in the written portions of the book, but the diagrams are fantastic.

The diagrams are clear and drawn on real horses so comparision is easy.I was looking for a book to give me basic understanding without being too complex. This fits the bill admirably - not too basic and with plenty of guidance to a higher level of education.

What a game changer this book has been. Lucy Jo breaks down each room of the house, helps prioritize and is realistic about budges, time frames and LIFE happening!

I loved the format; each chapter focused on what we can "make room" for in our homes: from cleanliness and organization to love and family. My favorite chapter was "Make Room for Style", which goes through different styles and includes beautiful examples of each. The author used examples and photos of her own home design throughout, and the images were gorgeous - I just wish there were more of them! I also appreciated her infusion of personal stories into the chapters, as well as the introduction at the beginning. While this book may cater more towards those with young children (like the author), there are numerous ideas that would apply to any prospective designer. Also, you can't help but be inspired by words like these:"My greatest hope for you, my reader, is that you feel uplifted and inspired from reading this book about how to create soul and style in your home. I like to picture you closing the book, standing up and saying, “Yes! I can do this!” And you can!"

It's written in a warm and approachable way that made me want to keep reading, and I loved how the author shared bits and pieces of her life to tell the story and make her points more impactful. I loved the simple, straightforward talk and the way Lucy encourages you to be your best self (without overwhelming you) from her book.

Very well written and flows well, making it easy to read. I devoured the book in two days. The personal stories told resonated with me and I loved how each idea and concept was portrayed in an attainable way, making it very motivating for me to start/continue creating the "style" and feeling I want in my own home. I absolutely loved the "Now What?" portion at the end of each section that gave doable tasks to get me started on my way without becoming overwhelmed. And the pictures were BEAUTIFUL! Such a great read!

I was impressed with how you could feel the authors passion in her writing. I loved how she shared her journey in finding her style and what brings her joy. I really appreciated that she included pictures of different decore styles so that you can get a better idea to what you like in decorating, instead of just trying to explain it and hoped that we understood. I like that she also provides different templates to help you with organizing your thoughts, styles, and supplies. Very well written.

This book is real and I have felt motivated mentally which for me is the hardest step. I was laughing and crying in just the first chapter. I'm taking on the clutter in my mind and my home and more importantly I have a new mindset for those mundane tasks. Absolutely recommend!

I enjoyed the writing style and honesty. I like the connection the book made between our personal soul styles to how we style our homes. I'm terrible at decorating so I loved how she put groups of decorative items together and called it by the styles they are. It helped give me a better understanding of my tastes!

its an awesome book that really displays derek's line work and his love for figure and pin up drawing. As for me Ill be using it as a source of reference and inspiration for my own gestures and sketches. the pin ups are tasteful and sexy while still being instructional.As for the material of the books itself, the outside is nice and glossy while the pages have a half gloss finish maybe, its a thin book but chalk full of inspirational goodies. from an aspiring artist I definitely recommend this book.

I thought this book would help at least inform you about how to do figure drawing or at least show the basics. This book is just some guy drawing pin ups and informing the reader that you can watercolor them or digitize them if you feel like. This has no educational or helpful purpose.

Good reference book, not much for instruction

I have to say right away that I'm blown away by the sheer talent of Derek and what he can accomplish digitally! It's very obvious his talent started way before the digital age! Which makes him more than qualified to provide guidance in this current transition that many are making to the digital age of art. I could only dream of one day reaching this level of skill!I love how many times I had tell myself these are digital pictures as the artist clearly gives explanations about different styles and how they still have relenvence when working digitally.While this is not a book to instruct one on how to actually draw a pinup the artist is more than generous in showing several stages of progression throughout the images. Including keeping many of the starting lines even in the final images. I'm not sure if that's for the assistance of the reader or just the artists style but regardless it's amazing!The book itself, while thin, is not loaded with pages of text but rather examples on every single page so I was more than satasifed with the content for the cost!I look forward to more from this artist and would love to see other styles from him!

Love this book. I don't get the feeling that he is trying to hold hands here and teach you every single step of his process, but rather give you the broad strokes on a selection of his stuff and show you some options for what can be done when you mix photoshop with old fashioned drawings. The range of drawing types was also interesting as it went from very traditional figure study to some very sensual poses so there is a little something for everyone in there. The last thing I noticed was the fact that he showed his work so to speak. He showed the initial sketches, tightened sketches, and final drawings side by side for most of them. For anyone who is thinking about getting into figure drawing or people who just like really nice drawings I would strongly suggest this book.

What a fun book! A good friend of mine introduced me to it and I'm glad he did. I'm not an artist and don't pretend to be. My artistic talent tops out at adult cartoon holiday cards but I love art and the illustrations in this book are beautiful, especially if you appreciate figure drawing and the female form. You can tell Derek is a very talented artist and I love how he laid out his thought process and guides you through the steps he took to make these very intricate and life like illustrations. If I were a serious artist I'm sure I would gain some good knowledge and be able to follow along in his thought process from preliminary sketches to the final draft.In my opinion, human anatomy is the most difficult kind of art to capture and to create an illustration that is perfectly life like is the ultimate sign of talent and dedication. Usually the face is "off" or the hands or body look "funny" and it just doesn't have any life but not in this book. The illustrations jump off the page and are very sexy and tasteful. I also found his commentary very personal and I love the fact that he said "I draw what I like and how I see it in my head. Art is subjective and should be personal. Who cares about what others think and do what feels right." I'm paraphrasing here but you get the idea.All in all, a great book for art lovers and artists who want to hone their craft. I included my wife's favorite illustration. She couldn't take her eyes off her and I don't blame her one bit!

I purchased several maps for our trip to Paris, France. This was the only map the print was large enough for me to read. It was very easy to see all the different streets, metro stops, places of interest etc. There is a large Metro & RER map on the back, that shows all the stops. Also, it shows which metro lines you can make transfers to in the city without buying another ticket. Each Metro & RER line is in color and it's easy to follow the lines from one end to the other, making it easy for you to see where your stop is along the line. It folds easily in to a small map which you can put in your purse and it is waterproof.

This map resided in my coat pocket for 2 weeks. The thing I loved about it was the metro map was large enough to read easily unlike most where we can hardly see the names of the stops. It also was pretty indestructible as it was rainy and I kept pulling it in and out of my pocket. When I needed to see the street map, it was also very easy to read. Quite honestly with GPS on your phone these days, a map is not as useful to find the details, but is great for deterring where you are in relation to where you want to go and finding the name of the nearest metro stop.A previous reviewer said the map had errors and cited Musee L'Orangie as being placed by the map in the Luxembourg Gardens instead of the Tuileries. Actually the reviewer is wrong, there is a very large building in the Luxembourg Gardens called "Orangy"- I actually walked by it, and the Musee L'Orangie is properly located on the map with it's full name. The map is absolutely accurate, the tourist is not.

Disappointed in this map overall. Far too many unlabeled streets throughout. I am having to write microscopically to insert street names because there are that many details left off. Also, there are features on the map which are not explained anywhere in the legend or fine print. So it leaves one wondering what those items represent, which makes it difficult to orient oneself, which is the sole purpose of a map. It is as if this map was originally part of a larger whole that would have explained more, but if you sell it separately, it should be entirely self-explanatory and rely on no other secondary source. I regret purchasing this one online, and perhaps if I had seen it in a bookstore first, I would have opted for a different solution. It "looks" like it's fine until you get into the nitty gritty and then you realize it is not entirely practical. It doesn't cover enough ground, Paris neighborhoods/arrondissements are not well-enough defined, and transportation colors are not differentiated from each other. I dislike this map the more I refer to it, and I am stuck with it unless I want to pay for yet another map. Primary complaint is many more streets should be named. I am not happy with this map.

This map was extremely helpful when my 13-year-old daughter and I were in Paris a few weeks ago. We walked from our hotel to various landmarks (Arc de Triomph, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, etc) and back with no problem during our stay. The metro/bus map on the back was also a lifesaver - we took the bus to Versailles one day, and if I hadn't had this map I would have had to rely on my phone (which was sucking down the data every time I used it) or acquired a map in Paris; it's hard to believe I could have found one this handy locally without paying more for it.I was iffy about paying $7 for a map when there are so many free ones out there, but the reviews convinced me. And I have to say: this map was well worth $7, and then some. It was easy to use, contained all of the main part of Paris, and the public transport map is wonderful to have.

Handy and robust-- but far too scant. Simply doesn't show enough of the city. When the blurb says "you can truly get to the heart of Paris" it doesn't point out that you can ONLY get to the heart of Paris-- all the rest is off the map. Want to walk up to Montmartre and Sacré Coeur? Not shown. Follow the St Martin canal? Off the edge. Go to Place de la Nation? Not shown. Visit La Défense? Not shown. Very disappointing.

Great map - it has everything I need. Street map, metro map, helpful translations for buying metro/bus tickets.

We went to Paris for the first time in May 2017. As first timers to Paris, this map was invaluable. Most helpful to us was the metro map which made it fairly easy to navigate through Paris. It is a foldout paper map, and it wasn't as durable as I had hoped it would be. Still, I highly recommend it for anyone travelling to Paris.

We're leaving Paris tomorrow, after a one week stay here. We used the map daily and it was perfect for our needs. Through wind, rain, sun, and miles of walking, the map pulled through. There's not one rip or stain on it. The Metro map insert is great, as it helped us navigate the system, which we used everyday. I highly recommend this map.

This book is AMAZING!! For years I have been trying to figure out a better way to manage my money and in the first few chapters I have already learned so much. I can't wait to actually put these tips into use and start saving for my future!The way the book is written is easy to follow and understand, everything is explained extremely well and is very relatable. I would recommend this to my siblings in college, my friends, family and even my grandparents. I think anyone can relate to the suggestions and help given in this book.

I saw this book being recommended and decided to purchase for my daughter who is heading to college. I ended up also grabbing the Kindle version for myself! I really like the language, it is easy to read and relate to (even made me laugh at myself a few times), and I think it is going to be a solid foundation for my daughter as she sets off on her own. Because we all know that it's good to sometimes hear it from someone other than mom and dad. As for myself, I used the free worksheet to get a closer look at my own budget and am looking forward to putting it into practice.

Simply put... this book has changed my life. I am absolutely the person who needs an easy how-to on everything - not because I'm dumb - but because, lets face it, money management can be very overwhelming.Rachel takes all of that way. She is funny. She is direct. She is no nonsense, but also fun! She makes complete sense. Finally!! Here's an "easy to understand" book that is *actually* easy to understand. You know that feeling when someone starts explaining something to you and your eyes are glazing over and your mind is wondering? There's none of that here. Everyday language and anecdotes draw you in, teach you what you thought was hopeless, and help you apply to your life! I thought I was doomed to never understand the stock market (I have tried for years, reading financial articles and books) and this book did what no other book or article could!!

This book is THE way to get your financial sh*t together! I usually find myself bored when reading stuff like this, because let's be honest, the subject matter isn't exactly thrilling. However, this book lays out all that you need to know about finances in an entertaining and fun way. I was instantly caught up in the book and within the first couple of chapters starting working on a budget for my family. This is the book that teaches you the stuff you probably should have learned in school, read it! You won't regret it!

I've read a few beginner financial books, but this is hands down my favorite. I, embarrassingly, actually have an MBA but they didn't teach anything about *personal* finance. I've been trying to learn about it for about two years because I know it's important, but my eyes just sort of glaze over and I don't retain anything. I didn't glaze over anything reading this book and it really got to the meat of what I needed to know in an entertaining way. I've recommended it to my little sister too. I will probably keep recommending it until she buys and reads it. I really can not recommend this book enough for anyone who knows they need to learn more about personal finance but was too intimidated or overwhelmed to start.

What a great guide! It really feels like you have Rachel speaking some much needed money sense right next to you. So far the guide has helped me write down a budget within 10 mins of me reading and I have been avoiding budgets since '07. Great Job!

Buyer and readers beware: this is a poor book. Terrible writing + horrible formatting = money wasted (consider the irony). She references Montly's Fools Guides To Finance and reader, go buy that instead (its a few dollars cheaper and much more useful.) Maybe there's information to be gathered but it was thrown together so sloppy and the writer never expands on any ideas. You could get more out of just reading the index of any finance book out there. This book reads like a high school child's rushed essay.And author, if you're reading this, please stop with the snark. The reader BOUGHT your book, there is no reason to constantly talk down to them with such condescending phrases. You should really consider scrapping this and working on short YouTube videos, considering you never really dissect topics, it could work better for you and probably make you more money. I'm definitely returning this.
