Gerald Corey is Professor Emeritus of Human Services and Counseling at California State University at Fullerton. He received his doctorate in counseling from the University of Southern California. He is a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology; a licensed psychologist; and a National Certified Counselor. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 17, Counseling Psychology; and Division 49, Group Psychotherapy); a Fellow of the American Counseling Association; and a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. Both Jerry and Marianne Corey received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Mental Health Counselors Association in 2011, and both also received the Eminent Career Award from ASGW in 2001. Dr. Jerry Corey was given the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award from California State University at Fullerton in 1991. He regularly teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in group counseling and ethics in counseling. He is the author or coauthor of 15 textbooks in counseling currently in print, along with more than 60 journal articles and book chapters.

I ordered this book for the Theories and Methods of Counseling course last semester. I was of course dreading the intense reading load that my Professor had in store for us, but I was surprised at how concise and organized this text is. Every chapter is broken down in relatively the same manner, and I loved how it broke down each major theory (such as humanistic, behavioral, psychoanalytic, etc.) into sub-divisions and founders/co-founders. As embarrassing as it is to admit that up until last semester, I kind of BS-ed knowing theories and the people involved with those theories, this text really helped me remember who did what, who founded what, who contributed to this and that. I would definitely recommend this text to anyone who needs a more structured, laid out format when it comes to this kind of material.The book did NOT come with the CD, but I believe on one of the first pages there is a website to go to that has the information to view the CD online. Luckily my professor let it slide when he realized 99% of the class did not get the CD.

Great price - no problems with the book. The only difference between this and my classmates books was mine was in black and white, the color was green instead of that pink-ish color and it was paperback ---- oh - and like 80 bucks cheaper!

I feel that the description noted is misleading.There is information given about the DVD "The Case Of Stan" and I feel that the purchaser of the book is lead to believe that the DVD is included with the book. I feel that the descripion SHOULD CLEARLY STATE DVD IS NOT INCLUDED WITH BOOK, however is available as an ADDITIONAL PURCHASE.I spent close to $60.00 to buy a new book so that I would be assurred to receive the DVD with it. This was a waste of money, because know I know that the DVD is not included and I could have purchased a used book for less than half the price. :(I am suprised that Amazon has not corrected this. This is a problem because as several other reviewers have said that they also thought that the DVD was included as well. BE AWARE THE DVD DOES NOT COME WITH THE BOOK!!!!!

I actually am enjoying this book. The case study of Stan has been so helpful to follow along and see various techniques used. I did find it distracting and irritating for the author to constantly suggest skipping around and reading later chapter's before earlier ones. Seems they should have simply organized it in a way that didnt require skipping around.

i'm studying for a master's in counseling degree. i won't keep all my books, but i will hold on to this one. if you simply MUST have the "case of stan" DVD, then i'm afraid you'll have to look for that package specifically, and purchase it new. my professor stressed we needed to buy dvd. however, you can find a good portion of the stan role plays on youtube. (btw, the new one with dvd is about $195). i didn't want to pay that much, so went with this one. and it has done the job just fine. in the book, at the end of the chapters, there is even a discussion of dr. corey's sessions with stan (a recap of what was on the dvd). i have had no problem. only two weeks remain in the course and i have a high "a" average.

I still have this particular textbook from my program because this one was by far the most helpful. It's broken down into several chapters that are concise, helpful and easy to read. The examples are AMAZING, and in the back of the book, it has a great summary of each theory, that I think really helped me ace my tests.

This book is great. It arrived fast and it is written in a way that it is easy to stay focused and engaged in. The way the author organized this book is brilliant, all in order of 11 different types of theories. I highly recommend this book.

As usual, Cengage have overpriced their mediocre books. To make it worse, as someone has already mentioned, the Kindle editions comes with neither a product key or access code so watching the recommended videos is not possible. In my case, I had no choice but to buy the Kindle edition. I live in the Middle East in a country that is very restrictive of the materials it allows in. Psychology and religion are two of the most banned materials. Rather than take a chance by ordering the print edition hoping it would get past the censors, it's easier to buy the electronic edition which can be downloaded over a VPN connection. Having access to the video and other materials available with the product code and/or access key might have made this experience better.

I run a non-profit that works with advanced high school musicians on original song writing and recording. Mixing makes so much more sense when it's broken down like this to the fundamental challenges and solutions. This will be our checklist going forward!I'll also be using this book on my home grown projects. It's given me the confidence to try to completely engineer my own mixes by demystifying the goals and methods. I'm excited by the freedom this will give me on my work and know this hands on approach will help me better develop my students' work.

I've been struggling with learning mixing on my own for the past 2 years....and John's books have made a huge improvement on my mixes. This is another excellent and straightforward book from John. Well organized and easy to apply to my mixes...for immediate results. And if you don't already have it....you should also get his Mastering book.

Another gem of a book! by author John Rogers. He walks you through the world of mixing music, which with todays technology, allows for musicians to also shape ones own creations. He explains the tasks and problems one encounters in mixing and provides solutions and explanations as to the reasons. And i love how he does this with his simplified comparrisions to things! This is definitely a must-read for all those who transpire to be better at mixing and understanding the process!

John has a knack for making difficult or hard to grasp concepts easy to understand for the absolute beginner. If mixing seems to be something only a "professional" can do then I recommend getting this book and seeing how much easier it is then you think!

John Rogers does it again! I've read it twice since it came out and have heard magnificent changes in my mixes. Things that I couldn't figure out and did not know how to fix were all in this book! Thank you John Rogers for sharing your knowledge!

I already have John's audio mastering book so I decided to buy this one. I'm so glad I did. It was extremely helpful, an easy read. My song mixes drastically improved after applying what I learned from Song Mixing Secrets.

I highly recommend this book. The author has fulfilled his promise that this book will help you better understand how to mix music well using techniques he has developed over his over 19 years in this industry. As a sound tech for my church I personally love the problem and solution section.

Good tricks and useful tips. I have used some of these in the past. They really do get you better quality.

First, let me say, this book really is beautifully done. The layout and photos are great and makes for a nice coffee table book.Unfortunately, the book seems to have questionable accuracy. In one instance, the book talks about rare house plants such as the pitcher plant. The problem is that they’re talking about Sarracenia (North American Pitcher Plant), but incorrectly showed a picture of a Nepenthes (Tropical Pitcher Plant), that has its own unique needs. The book also fails to mention that these plants require water with low mineral content and also require a dormancy period—two things that left ignored are a death sentence for these plants.

This is a beautiful coffee table book. It has a few good pointers in it if you have no experience with houseplants but I’d like to find something just a little more in depth.

I just ordered my copy. Although I have not read it yet, I know that anything produced by Dewitt Wilkerson is First Class and paradigm shifting. He has changed the way I practice over many years and I am looking forward to learning even more. Dentistry needs more of this philosophy in order to combat the corporate model.

This book wonderfully explains the connection between oral health and total body health. It was very easy to read and had a huge impact on me as far as making simple lifestyle changes in my day to day habits. Every dentist should have this book in their office!

I expected more details, e.g., regarding the vision of the horse, there SHOULD have been a little drawing of the vision fields .. and the explanation of ALL of the used words (and they should be SOMEWHERE in the picture) .. some things were nicely, plain, easy to understand, therefore I still rate 2 stars - but for what-you-get it is a bit too expensive in my opinion.

It's a ok book, but you can find better ones with a similar price.

Nice pictures, but too essential. I have appreciated the useful section on horse teeth, but other important sections are missing: little is said for example about the nervous system and peripheral nerves where nerve blocks are commonly perfomed. Or about the guttural pouch whcih is a typical feature of the horse anatomy.

I was hoping for a little more detail in the written portions of the book, but the diagrams are fantastic.

Lovely book very easy to read and follow explanations. The diagrams are clear and drawn on real horses so comparision is easy.I was looking for a book to give me basic understanding without being too complex. This fits the bill admirably - not too basic and with plenty of guidance to a higher level of education.

This is a good book for anyone looking for information on the basic working anatomy of the horse to help in understanding the anatomical working of the horse.

She is a mom. She is frugal. She has amazing ideas. She loves sharing her passion for creating useful and beautiful spaces. I couldn't help but be hooked after reading the first 5 pages of this book. What a game changer this book has been. Lucy Jo breaks down each room of the house, helps prioritize and is realistic about budges, time frames and LIFE happening!

You don’t decorate for others; it is a personal investment."This book was very well done, especially for an emerging author - and I've read a lot of interior design books. I loved the format; each chapter focused on what we can "make room" for in our homes: from cleanliness and organization to love and family. My favorite chapter was "Make Room for Style", which goes through different styles and includes beautiful examples of each. The author used examples and photos of her own home design throughout, and the images were gorgeous - I just wish there were more of them! I also appreciated her infusion of personal stories into the chapters, as well as the introduction at the beginning. While this book may cater more towards those with young children (like the author), there are numerous ideas that would apply to any prospective designer. Also, you can't help but be inspired by words like these:"My greatest hope for you, my reader, is that you feel uplifted and inspired from reading this book about how to create soul and style in your home. I like to picture you closing the book, standing up and saying, “Yes! I can do this!” And you can!"

I absolutely loved Making Room. It's chock-full of helpful tips that even an amateur can apply to make their home more beautiful and functional. It's written in a warm and approachable way that made me want to keep reading, and I loved how the author shared bits and pieces of her life to tell the story and make her points more impactful. Highly recommend!

A light read with a heavy impact on the way you look at your home and life in general. After reading this book, I gained the courage to jump in feet first for our own home renovation this spring. I loved the simple, straightforward talk and the way Lucy encourages you to be your best self (without overwhelming you) from her book.

Very well written and flows well, making it easy to read. I devoured the book in two days. The personal stories told resonated with me and I loved how each idea and concept was portrayed in an attainable way, making it very motivating for me to start/continue creating the "style" and feeling I want in my own home. I absolutely loved the "Now What?" portion at the end of each section that gave doable tasks to get me started on my way without becoming overwhelmed. And the pictures were BEAUTIFUL! Such a great read!

I was impressed with how you could feel the authors passion in her writing. I loved how she shared her journey in finding her style and what brings her joy. I really appreciated that she included pictures of different decore styles so that you can get a better idea to what you like in decorating, instead of just trying to explain it and hoped that we understood. I like that she also provides different templates to help you with organizing your thoughts, styles, and supplies. Very well written.

This book is real and I have felt motivated mentally which for me is the hardest step. I was laughing and crying in just the first chapter. I'm taking on the clutter in my mind and my home and more importantly I have a new mindset for those mundane tasks. Absolutely recommend!

I enjoyed the writing style and honesty. I like the connection the book made between our personal soul styles to how we style our homes. I'm terrible at decorating so I loved how she put groups of decorative items together and called it by the styles they are. It helped give me a better understanding of my tastes!
