The Table of Contents is comprehensive and easy to navigate (even separates sections for fruit-based, raw diet, etc), which is a huge plus. Each recipe chapter also has a ToC, making it even easier to find what you're looking for.The first 6 chapters (those that make up "Part 1") are all made up of info about vegetarianism. While this can potentially be good for beginners (which is who the book is labelled as being for) or those on the fence about switching over, it may be cumbersome to those who just want the recipes. Also, it can be a bit off-putting to those who want the recipes but do like meat, because it spends so much time trying to convince you how bad meat is for you. The start of the recipes section has a 14 day meal plan to help newbies get started, which is a neat little addition.All directions are simple and easy to follow, but some bits seem unnecessary (ie: a separate step saying to put a pitcher under your juicer). Additionally, some recipes seem to just take up space (for example, "morning melon agua fresca," which basically says to stick fruit in the juicer and mix it with water when it comes out). With the exception of those in the dessert section, there's an introduction at the beginning of each recipe that tells you why the various ingredients in that dish are good for your health, which I liked.The soups/salads section included a few dressing recipes, which I found to be a nice touch, and I also was pleasantly surprised by the condiments chapter. While there was an overall attempt to have a variety of foods, in reality it didn't pan out. The majority of the breakfast section was oatmeal and smoothies and the "main dishes" included a ton of pasta and rice.There is a small glossary and resources section included in the back, which was a plus, but I was *highly* disappointed that there were no pictures in the entire thing, especially for the desserts. Overall, I can't say the book was terrible, but I certainly wouldn't rank it as a top cookbook.*Disclaimer: I received the book for free to review, but all opinions are 100% mine and weren't influenced by this in any way

This "digital" cookbook is not what I expected. I was hoping there were pictures and there isn't. When I went to make my first recipe "Raw Mixed Berry Pie" I made my list and ran off to the store to pick up the ingredients which included 7 apricots, which I purchased from the produce section of my supermarket. When I got home I began my prep work. The first step to the recipe reads "In separate bowls, cover the walnuts and apricots with water and soak for up to 24 hours." I began to think to myself, why would I be soaking "fresh" apricots? So I did what it told me to do and the crust didn't turn out right at all, so I wasted money on buying the apricots!! I then realized that the recipe probably wanted you to buy the "dried" apricots!! So I went back to the store and purchased the "dried" apricots and guess what??? It worked!! So I gave it a 1 star because the ingredient list was incorrect and I lost money on making the recipe. I made a few other of the recipes and they were pretty good but the recipes made more then what it said it would so again I felt like I was again wasting money and food because it couldn't be consumed fast enough.

This is more of a guidebook than a cookbook. Section One explains the pitfalls of the modern Western diet: the diseases it causes and why a vegetarian diet could restore health. It gives a detailed explanation of the types of Vegetarians: some eat fish, others eat eggs and cheese as well as vegetables.Section Two--the Cookbook-- is wonderful. It gives you a two week menu, to ease you from a protein to a vegetarian diet. Secondly, the recipes provide something for everybody--breakfast, lunch, and entrees for dinner. There are even recipes with eggs or cheese, so you can ease yourself and your family into a Vegetarian diet. And the instructions are straight forward; easy to follow. My Grandma said: "if you can read, you can cook". If you make one of these recipes, even the family carnivore (s) will ask for seconds.

This book, although titled similarly, is not the same as the Vegan Cookbook. Although much of the information in this book is the same, this book gives a better breakdown of the different Vegetarian classifications. Pescatarian, Fruitarian, or Flexitarian; which one are you? No, it’s not a religion. These are some of the different variations or classifications of Vegetarianism.If you are serious about improving your health by going vegetarian, don’t let the pantry restock section put you off. Take heed of the advice to change gradually. You will need to give your body time to adjust to the new changes. The recipes will really astound you. I am absolutely in love with the Kiwi-Strawberry Spinach smoothie and the Lentil soup recipes. The 2-week meal plan will go a long way in helping smooth the way for a successful change.

The thought of vegetarianism is something that has certainly evolved over the past few years. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy a diet rich in vegetables, but this cookbook will give you more options than you thought imaginable. From things like Garlic green pepper pastas, Penne and artichokes and zucchini with lemon garlic pasta. There are even desserts, soups, snack and breakfast options. I loved the muffin recipes and there are even smoothie recipes as well.Another benefit of this book is it can be used as a guide for anyone wanting to change their lifestyle. It’s packed with information about what foods fit into a vegetarian diet as well as a diet where you still eat meat but have vegetarian days. They even cover restaurant with vegetarian options and the history of vegetarianism.So if you’re looking for new things to do with those vegetables this cookbook is a wealth of knowledge. You will take those boring standard meat free meals to new heights.
