Clearly it is relevant to the current political climate and debates on immigration policy, but it is also relevant on a personal level to Americans who descended from immigrants or became citizens themselves and to people who have, in one form or another, adopted the United States as a home country. Silvia Giagnoni begins her book with just that personal connection, explaining how her own background and choices brought her to writing "Here We May Rest." The whole book is a wonderful blend of narrative, history, policy and politics that speaks to both our minds and our hearts. I highly recommend it.
