If this is your 1st BMW - Way to go! You have a solid partner. No matter how deep in, BMW has your back. Not too many "W..T..%%$#" moments...except those darn electrical connectors...The manual is a must have, but kinda spread out. Not as thorough as the books for earlier models (pre-'80). I'm sure there is a psychologist's graduate thesis in there somewhere.. "A study of the parallels between consumer good planned obsolescence and the devolution of critical thought among the fledgling working class - a second enlightenment retrospective analysis of short sighted resource development and the perpetual waste engine." - Any takers?Not as many vehicle specific photos or detailed instructions as for the manual on 2002's. No more hand drawing-enhanced photographs... The technical data is still there though. Download the electrical trouble shooting manual PDF here:[...] & you are off to the races.

Some of the instruction steps could be more clear and explicit. For example, they say disconnect the fuel injector wiring. So you are out there scratching your head, trying to figure out how to disconnect the clips, or open the plastic housing, etc., until you finally realize that simply pulling up on the assembly disconnects it all. Simple once you know how, but an extra sentence would have save a lot of frustration!

This was in better condition than I thought it would be. It has all the information needed to do any repair on my 535i. Would definitely recommend getting one if you have a bimmer of your own that you want to keep on the road and show off.

This is a beautifully produced book (a bit of an oxymoron given the subject matter) with lots of well-produced images from hundreds of paperbacks of the era. It's also printed on solid stock, oversized glossy paper, smells good (okay...I'm the sort of guy who used to sniff the mimeographs in grade school when the teacher handed them out) and neither the Kindle 8 nor the b&w readers do the book justice as the images are either too small or in B&W. My only quibble with the book is the tone. It's funny, which is fine, but almost always glib. Sure, lots of the titles taken on here are disposable and beyond redemption, but surely an occasional more serious approach would have a good idea (another confession: I was an English Lit major in college).I really like this book. I recommend it highly. It fills a void and it's interesting to see some of these titles going from give-aways to upwards of $2000 for heretofore unknown masterpieces such as The Voice of the Clown.If you're at all intrigued, you'll enjoy this.

I have to admit it. When I ordered Paperbacks from Hell I wasn't really expecting too much. In fact, I thought at first that it was a bit over-priced. I figured it would be a bunch of pretty pictures of book covers with some light captioning but that was about it. I was very, very wrong. The book itself is well put together, inside and out. I would definitely recommend getting the paperback copy. The e-book might be just as pretty but I can't see it having the same lay-out or feel to it. The pages are thick and the pictures reproduced are gorgeous.The text that goes along with the pictures is funny and informative. If I had to compare it to something then Stephen King's Danse Macabre would be the closest comparison. But while Danse Macabre got bogged down occasionally in dryness Paperbacks from Hell never does. With headings like 'Parenting the Homicidal Child' (first make sure you're not dating Satan) and phrases like "Before Anne Rice, vampires killed humans. Now they got in touch with their sensitive sides while muffin-spelunking inside of them." (page 153) this book left me actually laughing out loud. That's no easy trick, I haven't laughed at a book (in a good way) in quite a while.I sincerely hope that Grady Hendrix follows up his book with a journey through the nineties and on. While some plots may not be quite so creatively insane there are some out there and some cover art that deserves showcasing. I was also very pleased to see some 'forgotten' favorites of mine in there.If you're looking for a quick, funny overview of the crazy days of the horror industry then I can't recommend this book enough. I wanted to rip through Paperbacks from Hell but also take my time enjoying the crazy, beautiful covers of the '70s and '80s.Paperbacks from Hell is a funny romp through the craziness that defined two decades and never leaves you bored. The commentary from Grady Hendrix (Horrorstor) will never leave you bored.

PAPERBACKS FROM HELL: The Twisted History of '70's and '80's Horror Fiction, by Grady Hendrix was one of the most FUN books I've read in a while! A fantastic "reference guide" to some of those old paperbacks that many of us grew up on, Hendrix includes many facts about the horror industry, publishers, cover art, and even the "type" of horror that was in style during certain periods.Along with the factual information, there are many humor laced commentaries that had me grinning from ear to ear. For example, there is a section on "PARENTING THE HOMICIDAL CHILD". After determining the type of "homicidal child" you have, Hendrix gives the reader some great advice stemming from the pages of these old paperbacks."Adopted or chemically altered children should be destroyed immediately because they can not be reformed. No matter how hard you try, they probably will, at some point, go on a rampage and murder all your other children . . . "There are also precautions to take to make sure you are not dating the devil. If, however, you still give birth to the spawn of Satan, "all is not lost. Look on the bright side: deadly children are the best-dressed children. . . . A coat and tie says either "tiny funeral director" or "psychopath". . . "This book had me scouring my TBR piles for these "golden relics"--and soon to be camping out at any used book store I can find. Personally, I found the uniformity in covers during certain periods to be shocking. When reading all of those books by Patricia Wallace or Ruby Jean Jensen, it never occurred to me at the time that nearly all of the cover art depicted skeletons, in some form or other. Of course, a wise word of warning was included by Hendrix: "Skeleton doctors are the worst doctors."". . . To be honest, I'm not even sure their licenses to practice medicine are legal. . . "Overall, a fantastic addition to any horror enthusiast's bookshelves, and a great reference on which "forgotten gems" you should run out and spend more money on!Highly recommended!

Fantastic book to best understand how the nervous system communicates with itself and to understand the functional role of each aspect. I highly recommend this book because as a DVM student it has really helped me better connect physiology to neuroanatomy and localization of neurologic lesions. That being said, I would not recommend this book as your only source of study. Some of my classmates attempted to use this book as their only study reference and have not built a solid enough understanding of what is going on and thus I would recommend supplementing with a great physiology book like Duke's Veterinary Physiology.

This is an awesome neuro book. Dr. Christine Thomson was my first year vet school professor. She knows her... stuff.... There are real case examples/pictures. The information is straight-forward and easy to comprehend but is still at the graduate level. I will reference this book throughout my career and feel confident that the information is correct and as well as useful. Seriously, no need to spend beaucoup bucks for any other intro to neuro book, this one is amazing!

I purchased this book for my second year of vet school and I LOVE it. This book helped get me through Neuro. It is very user friendly and easy to read. If you are planning on being a neurologist then you will definitely need a more in-depth book, but this was an EXCELLENT starting point. It is a definite must have for all vet students.

I have been teaching small animal clinical neurology for more than 20 years and at last, here is a book that gets it just right in terms of content - a mix of appropriate neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and clinical problem-solving for neurological cases. Excellently illustrated and easy to understand, but not simplistic, this text will become recommended reading for our DVM course.

This book is well-written, concise and full of color diagrams and photos that all add to the learning experience. Where other books (such as de Lahunta) may be more detailed, they can be harder to read and sometimes you don't see the wood for the trees (though I'm still learning from de Lahunta on the 3rd or 4th read and it makes an excellent reference text).Thomson and Hahn have distilled out the essentials of veterinary neuroanatomy and provide it in a clear and concise manner - this lays an excellent foundation for further reading if needed or desired. Concepts are used to explain certain points or simplify an anatomical or physiological system, and these are, for the most part, a useful way of thinking about things. I only wish this book had been written several years ago at the start of my career!

Reading this book was just like sitting in one of her lectures. She has a way with explaining things so that they just click and finally make sense. It is written in an easily accessible fashion while still being perfectly scientific. The gift of teaching that Christine Thomson possesses is extended into the written form. I can't recommend it highly enough for any first or second year vet students.

This book is very well written and guides through the steps in a matter that is very easy to understand. I have always struggled with layers, but using the process shown in this book, it is much more understandable now. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs some help making good use of this powerful tool.

I bought this book, as I have bought many others from Robin, because I really like his style of teaching with examples and especially his advice on what matters and what does not. I simply do not have time to investigate all the options and bunny trails of things possible within Photoshop. With Robin's books on any technology, I find that they are clear, to the point and well laid out. His style is conversational guidance, and I especially appreciate and heed his advice on things NOT worth messing with. I'd rather spend my time shooting, and then having a reliable source to turn to for the mechanics of processing when I am trying to get the essentials.

I do most of my photo work in Lightroom, but I occasionally find situations where I need something more powerful, ie Photoshop's layers and masking. Most Photoshop manuals seems either too basic (they tell me how to do those thinks I already can accomplish in Lightroom) or far to extensive (all I really want to do is refine photographs). And, they are uniformly expensive. This book assumes a knowledge Photoshop basics and, for a reasonable price and at a reasonable length, provides me enough information to get started using layers effectively. I like this book enough that I am considering getting his book on masking.

Found the book to be quite informative. I have read others, and this one is right up there with good content and instruction techniques. Obviously the topic of layers is huge, so no one book can cover it all, plus I find that it is more an issue of practice than reading the books on how to. I did like the book, and would highly recommend.

I learned a few hings about layers from this book such as using overlay to dodge and burn.. Worth the money spent. Written very well with examples.

The book provides a good introduction to Layers. Author walks slowly through topics like basic layers, masking blending and textures. After finishing the book, my knowledge was still pretty basic and wanted more but for the price - a good purchase.

Great resource. All of Robin Whalley's books are extremely readable and very concise. I highly recommend this as well as Perfect Prints Every Time.

A great In-depth training on the key to using Photoshop expertly and creatively. Would recommend to serious amateurs or pros.

Gerald Corey is Professor Emeritus of Human Services and Counseling at California State University at Fullerton. He received his doctorate in counseling from the University of Southern California. He is a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology; a licensed psychologist; and a National Certified Counselor. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 17, Counseling Psychology; and Division 49, Group Psychotherapy); a Fellow of the American Counseling Association; and a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. Both Jerry and Marianne Corey received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Mental Health Counselors Association in 2011, and both also received the Eminent Career Award from ASGW in 2001. Dr. Jerry Corey was given the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award from California State University at Fullerton in 1991. He regularly teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in group counseling and ethics in counseling. I ordered this book for the Theories and Methods of Counseling course last semester. I was of course dreading the intense reading load that my Professor had in store for us, but I was surprised at how concise and organized this text is. Every chapter is broken down in relatively the same manner, and I loved how it broke down each major theory (such as humanistic, behavioral, psychoanalytic, etc.) into sub-divisions and founders/co-founders. As embarrassing as it is to admit that up until last semester, I kind of BS-ed knowing theories and the people involved with those theories, this text really helped me remember who did what, who founded what, who contributed to this and that. I would definitely recommend this text to anyone who needs a more structured, laid out format when it comes to this kind of material.The book did NOT come with the CD, but I believe on one of the first pages there is a website to go to that has the information to view the CD online. Luckily my professor let it slide when he realized 99% of the class did not get the CD.

Great price - no problems with the book. The only difference between this and my classmates books was mine was in black and white, the color was green instead of that pink-ish color and it was paperback ---- oh - and like 80 bucks cheaper!

I feel that the description noted is misleading.There is information given about the DVD "The Case Of Stan" and I feel that the purchaser of the book is lead to believe that the DVD is included with the book. I feel that the descripion SHOULD CLEARLY STATE DVD IS NOT INCLUDED WITH BOOK, however is available as an ADDITIONAL PURCHASE.I spent close to $60.00 to buy a new book so that I would be assurred to receive the DVD with it. This was a waste of money, because know I know that the DVD is not included and I could have purchased a used book for less than half the price. :(I am suprised that Amazon has not corrected this. This is a problem because as several other reviewers have said that they also thought that the DVD was included as well. BE AWARE THE DVD DOES NOT COME WITH THE BOOK!!!!!

I actually am enjoying this book. The case study of Stan has been so helpful to follow along and see various techniques used. I did find it distracting and irritating for the author to constantly suggest skipping around and reading later chapter's before earlier ones. Seems they should have simply organized it in a way that didnt require skipping around.

i'm studying for a master's in counseling degree. i won't keep all my books, but i will hold on to this one. if you simply MUST have the "case of stan" DVD, then i'm afraid you'll have to look for that package specifically, and purchase it new. my professor stressed we needed to buy dvd. however, you can find a good portion of the stan role plays on youtube. (btw, the new one with dvd is about $195). i didn't want to pay that much, so went with this one. and it has done the job just fine. in the book, at the end of the chapters, there is even a discussion of dr. corey's sessions with stan (a recap of what was on the dvd). i have had no problem. only two weeks remain in the course and i have a high "a" average.

I still have this particular textbook from my program because this one was by far the most helpful. It's broken down into several chapters that are concise, helpful and easy to read. The examples are AMAZING, and in the back of the book, it has a great summary of each theory, that I think really helped me ace my tests.

This book is great. It arrived fast and it is written in a way that it is easy to stay focused and engaged in. The way the author organized this book is brilliant, all in order of 11 different types of theories. I highly recommend this book.

As usual, Cengage have overpriced their mediocre books. To make it worse, as someone has already mentioned, the Kindle editions comes with neither a product key or access code so watching the recommended videos is not possible. In my case, I had no choice but to buy the Kindle edition. I live in the Middle East in a country that is very restrictive of the materials it allows in. Psychology and religion are two of the most banned materials. Rather than take a chance by ordering the print edition hoping it would get past the censors, it's easier to buy the electronic edition which can be downloaded over a VPN connection. Having access to the video and other materials available with the product code and/or access key might have made this experience better.

Well organized and easy to apply to my mixes...for immediate results. And if you don't already have it....you should also get his Mastering book.

Another gem of a book! by author John Rogers. He walks you through the world of mixing music, which with todays technology, allows for musicians to also shape ones own creations. He explains the tasks and problems one encounters in mixing and provides solutions and explanations as to the reasons. And i love how he does this with his simplified comparrisions to things! This is definitely a must-read for all those who transpire to be better at mixing and understanding the process!

John has a knack for making difficult or hard to grasp concepts easy to understand for the absolute beginner. If mixing seems to be something only a "professional" can do then I recommend getting this book and seeing how much easier it is then you think!

John Rogers does it again! I've read it twice since it came out and have heard magnificent changes in my mixes. Things that I couldn't figure out and did not know how to fix were all in this book! Thank you John Rogers for sharing your knowledge!

I already have John's audio mastering book so I decided to buy this one. I'm so glad I did. It was extremely helpful, an easy read. My song mixes drastically improved after applying what I learned from Song Mixing Secrets.

I highly recommend this book. The author has fulfilled his promise that this book will help you better understand how to mix music well using techniques he has developed over his over 19 years in this industry. As a sound tech for my church I personally love the problem and solution section.

Good tricks and useful tips. I have used some of these in the past. They really do get you better quality.
