I have lots of SharePoint experience, but had never done much with branding (html, css). This book was recommended to me by a programmer when I was assigned a branding project at work. I love this book, it gave me the base knowledge to get started on the project and I have used it extensively. I highly recommend this book, especially if you are migrating to 2013 and are new to customizing SP.

This is exactly what I needed. It offers a large amount of information on the topic of SharePoint branding, and it includes an easy to follow, very helpful tutorial for implementing custom branding from start to finish.

This book is a must have for any SharePoint Professional. If you're an Admin it will give you great insight and if you're a developer it will bridge the gap to SharePoint Branding! It's a great add to any SharePoint Library

Not sure where to being with this review other than to say that this is an amazing book! Full color images really drive home what you are doing and, I think, makes it much easier to understand. It is one thing for a book to say doing X will give you Red text but then to see the actual results in red text makes it much better.The only bad thing I would have to say about this book is the layout, but I feel that is more because I am a developer rather than a UI person. Whenever I show it to my artist type friends they all love it and really the book is more for their types than mine :)

This was required for a theology class that I took. I was not familiar with the trinitarian controversy or any of the historical figures involved prior to the class. This was a very difficult read for me, largely due to this lack of history or understanding of the conflict. This was a poor choice for the class structure as we were instructed to do the reading prior to the corresponding lecture, which made it even more difficult to understand. I would not recommend this unless you have enough background knowledge about the subject to understand each of the figures involved. That said, once I did have that back ground, it was interesting to go back and review a few of the letters.

Good collection of important primary texts of the church's history, but don't look here for anything further than that.

I highly suggest this book if you are looking into the Faith and Fathers of the Church. An in-depth read that is worthy of scholarly work.

Required reading for my MA degree.

Great book

If you are looking for a collection of letters surrounding the Trinitarian Controversy from circa the 4th century, then this is the book for you. If you are looking for an exposition on the topic, then this is not the book for you.

Give a bunch of Christians thinkers of this era, trying to argue for the trinity or against, not most detail, but it give you taste of the time. I think it worth your time to read. It is not that long and if your into theology it is fun read.

If you are interested in digging deeper in this sort of information then this book is for you.It gives you the history along with the letters of exchanges between parties. It serves a powerful witness.

Uche Anizor is currently a professor of biblical and theological studies at Biola University. He has authored four book on theological topics. He received his doctorate from Wheaton College. Hank Voss is currently a professor of biblical studies at Taylor University. He has studied at University of Chicago Divinity School, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Jerusalem University College (Jerusalem, Israel), and Harvest Language School (Guadalajara, Mexico) in addition to his masters and graduate studies at Biola University and Wheaton College respectively. He is also the author of three books and held several leadership positions in urban ministry. The thesis of this book is that the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers is central to the Christian faith as evidenced in Scripture, reestablished by Luther, and carried out in light of the Trinity.The book is organized into six sections. The introduction discusses potential obstacles to belief in the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers and differing denominational views on the common priesthood all baptised believers belong to. The second chapter provides an overview of the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers throughout Scripture. Next, the historical background of the priesthood of all believers is covered with a nod to Martin Luther’s role. The fourth section examines the theology of the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers through the lens of the doctrine of the Trinity. Finally, the authors present practical ways for believers to live out the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers by discussing the seven central practices: baptism, prayer, lectio divina, ministry, church discipline, proclamation, and the Lord’s Supper.I would recommend this book for believers at a college-level or higher who desire to be challenged in their faith from a greater understanding of our privilege and responsibility as members of the priesthood of all believers. Overall, this book significantly increased my knowledge and understanding of the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers. Though I had heard of the priesthood of all believers before, I had never examined its biblical or historical background. It was interesting to learn that this doctrine is carried throughout the whole of Scripture and God’s story, and the authors provided a thorough overview of this. I also enjoyed how the authors related the doctrine of the Trinity to the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers in an approachable way. Since I had never heard of them before, I was grateful that the seven central practices were included in this book and provided an answer to the “How?” that results from the challenge to live out this doctrine. They each were described in significant detail, and I gained new insights about each of them. The only critique I have is that the book often seemed repetitive, but that could have been a result of the consistent theme throughout.One repeated idea I will take away from reading this book is that “to be God’s people is to accept the privileges and responsibilities involved in keeping his covenant” (31). I also will remember the idea that “to pray in Jesus’ name is to pray in agreement with the prayer Jesus is bringing to his Father on behalf of a particular person or regarding a particular issue” (92). I will also walk away with a new understanding of the past, present, and future components of baptism and the Lord’s Supper as discussed in chapter 5.

Author: Hank Voss is a current professor of biblical studies at Taylor University. Formerly he served as a Youth Pastor, a headmaster at a Christian school, and worked in urban ministry for seventeen years. He has also gotten several awards and grants over the years. Uche Anizor is a professor of biblical studies at Biola University.Thesis: The big idea of this book by Voss and Anizor to identify the issue of “developing a faithful doctrine of the church” (11) and inform the twenty-first century church of ways this challenge can be faced or fixed. I think the authors chose to focus on this because unity in the church and as Christians is something that is extremely important but lacking in the world today, so the authors want to write about ways for us to understand how we can be unified as a priesthood of believers and work for the kingdom as disciples of Christ.Structure: This book begins with talking about who we are as a priesthood of believers and how that is a unification of people. It then goes into prefacing the vision for how they want the readers to interpret the doctrine or their vision for it. The next part talks about the royal priesthood through the eyes of scripture and how that depicts Christ as head of the royal priesthood and how He wants us to engage in it. In this section a lot about humanity is discussed and how we are made in the imago dei. This section also helps us better understand some of our duties as a royal priesthood. The third section entitles “Reformed Priesthood” which begins to introduce the seven practices and talks about the devotion of Christ to us as His children. The fourth section can be summed up by a quote from the book that reads “we ultimately become like what we worship, and this is especially true for members of the priesthood of believers” (85). We cannot live a life pleasing to God without him being in the center of it and our relationship with Him should never stop growing. The fifth section focuses on the seven practices of the royal priesthood and specific ways we can practice them. This also addresses the VIM approach, which stands for vision, intention, and means. And the sixth section of the book is a beautiful conclusion which reveals that the intention for the readers of this book is to enrich our understanding through the various perspectives and to equip us to “better appropriate the doctrine for our particular church contexts” (150).Review: I think this book was very well written, and I think the intensions of the book are necessary and beautifully written. I love all of the emphasis on how we are to reflect Christs love through service and the seven practices. The ways we are called to serve the world in need in this book are all very practical and mean good work for the kingdom. I appreciate the things that this book emphasized. The only things I struggled with while reading this book is 1) I was confused on the difference between being a Christian and being in the royal priesthood, especially when talking about duties of the royal priesthood, and 2) just that it was hard for me to catch on to the level of theological language in this book, once I got to the second section I began to catch on, but then lost it at chapter three, and then at chapter four I caught back on real quick. But if the reader is somewhat knowledgeable in theological language it shouldn’t be a problem!Remember: As I reflect on things I will take away from this book, I will try not to be super repetitive. I really enjoyed the seven practices in the fifth chapter and I think that is something I can take away and practically apply it to my life to fulfill my duties as a member of the royal priesthood and the church. I also really appreciated how the book ended talking about how our faithfulness to be a member of the royal priesthood “will lead to greater displays of the Lamb’s beauty on the face of his bride” (156) and asking the question of “so, what now?” These two quotes I really want to resonate more on and I want to become part of my daily life.

Okay, if you ever struggled with a Philosophy text book in College, you will in fact experience Brain Lock with this book. It's great and I love it because it is a part of my Culture, but you are NOT going to zip through this one in a day. I eat books for breakfast, but this one took me four months literally to get through. You have to take your time as many of the creatures have multiple names and forms and will in fact confuse you if you rush. This book read like a Dissertation and there are no graphs or diagrams to help it make better sense. Yes, I gave it 5 Stars. This book is readable, but it's going to take a healthy dose of patience and time to get through it.

Enjoyed how the author distinguishes nature from culture by crossing the threshold! Don't look for myths in this work, rather how they applied the aspects of the myths. Highly Recommended!

I'm only sorry I didn't buy a half dozencopies for relations & friends - It's too bad 'costhe book is as good as it gets given its highlyesoteric subject. The author was trained by thepioneering & controversial Levi-Strauss and itshows in his attention to the clues to theorigins of culture to be found to in foodand language. Greimas forms with M Gimbutas &SC Rowland the third leg of a tentativecomprehension (seen through a mist) ofthe old Indo-Aryan roots of prehistoricLithuanian culture - scholarly it must besince the author probes an obscure andobdurate subject - necessarily philologicalbut that's to be expected given thatthe ancient tribal chieftains who werealso the chief shamans were il-Lit-erate -and that the suddenness of officialChristianization in 1386 destroyedthe the ancient groves along with anypossibility of a written mythology -Thus what there is must be gleaned fromthe 'Prusicae Delicae' written byincomprehending German priests accompanying13th c. This book is a very scholarly and well researched. While this makes it apealing to scholars, paticularly those interested in the origin of Lituanian words and thier relation to folk beliefs, it is a very hard read. Beggers can't be chosers, however. There do not appear to be any other works available on this subject. I would very much like to find other works in English on Lithuanian mythology. I would also welcome emails from anyone with similar interests, information about other sources, or personal knowledge of Lithuanian folk beliefs.

Of the seven or eight books I have on PM, this is good, but not the best. The content is good and it's suitable to those learning about PM, but it's very long, too wordy at times, doesn't have as many examples or scenarios as some others, and provides too little detail in some places (in my opinion) and too much in others.Sounds like I don't like it - but I do. I just wouldn't use it as the standalone book in a PM class. Of all the books I have, it's the best in terms of introducing people to multiple methodologies. Chapter two is likely the best chapter I've seen to explain the PMBOK - that alone is worth buying this book if you are new to PM and want to study for one of the PMI certifications. It also has a lot of other information that most other books do not have, including on continuous project improvement, managing distressed projects, and managing multiple team projects.If I were starting out, I'd read Chapters 1 and 2 here, then go to The Fast Forward MBA in Project Management or Project Manager Street Smarts, then come back to this book. If studying for the PMP or the CAPM in addition to learning how to be a , I'd through the All-in-One CAPM/PMP Project Management Certification Exam Guide in the mix. Between them, you'd be on your way to understanding how to be a good PM.

I just completed my Project Management class in college, and it is the first time they have used the expanded version of the book (so far as I know). Robert Wysocki knows how to explain concepts deeply and thoroughly...not only will this help you prepare for your eventual PMP exam (you need 3 years Project Management experience to take that exam), but it will help you avoid the common pitfalls related to not choosing the correct management approach.Right after our finals, I spoke to a student who took this course earlier (with the older version of the book), and he was lucky enough to actually listen to Robert as visiting lecturer for one class. The man is nothing short of brilliant!This book is fantastic -- one of the true gems of my collge experience. I do have 2 minor quibbles, however: 1) Robert sometimes goes into an explanation that's far too wordy. He does not confuse, but at times he tends to repeat himself -- over and over, for several pages. Not the whole book, just now and then. 2) There are no review questions of any kind. (Not even a quibble for me, but it may be for you.) At the end of each chapter are scenarios to discuss as a group, if you are so inclined. If you are using this for self-study for certification, this will very likely be a real pitfall. However, you could supplement the vast wealth of Mr. Wysocki's real-world experience with one of the exam study/cram books out there.This is not the book to "cram" for an exam. It discusses terminology and concepts, but goes into great detail about the hows/whys pros/cons of various project management approaches and processes. You must actually read! This book is in no way designed to skim or cram, and you will not be able to do that with this book (unless you already read *this* book and are just reviewing it).However, if you want to become a good project manager, or improve your practice, this is the best book!

I am not a project manager but as an architect I find I am usually managing a project and the team assigned to it. More often than not, a real project manager is not available.I bought this book to find out what the latest project management best practices are. I own the 4th edition of this book and really liked it.This book starts out defining what a project is and what project management is and then it covers the PMBOK Process Groups and Knowledge areas in great detail. After that it covers different types of life cycles like Agile, Extreme, and Traditional. He then covers topics like Portfolio Management and Process Improvement.What I liked most about the book was the detail he goes into. This book contains a vast amount of information. He does a good job of providing summary overviews of what will be covered and then covering it in detail.I will admit the quantity of information can become overwhelming at times. There is a ton of it.One of the things I really like is that the author has created accompanying presentations. They are ready to use for training so your Project Support Office could use them for training across your enterprise.One of my favorite chapters was Managing Distressed Projects. It offers great insight into how projects become distressed as well as great advice on how to get your head above water again.On a decent size project I prefer to have a good project manager that I can partner with, it just makes the projects ten times more enjoyable. Mainly because I get removed from a lot of the politics.Notice I said a good project manager above. I have had my share of bad ones and they can make the project pure misery.I haven't met many project managers armed with the knowledge and the tools found in this book. I wish there were more. If you are a Project Manager, I beg you to read this book. If you are a CIO, Architect, Developer, or any other stakeholder on project large enough to have a Project manager, it would be good for you to read this book so you know what the project manager is working to accomplish during different phases of the project.All in all I think anyone involved with decent size software development project should read this book. It will definitely help improve your project's effectiveness accomplishing adding business value.
